Stumptown Comics Fest 2012: The Haul

Though I probably could have spent hundreds of dollars at the show, I tried to limit my purchases at Stumptown so I’d still have money to feed myself before my next paycheck.

Here’s what I got…

Forming Vol. 1 by Jesse Moynihan. As I mentioned in my last post, I’m pretty excited about this one.

A Stumptown 2012 print from Chris Sheridan, aka Powder Keg Comics. Mr. Sheridan was way too kind and refused payment for that and a few other prints, plus he gave me copies of his comics Rumpus and Old Crow: The Genteel Assassin for free. Seriously, dude’s too nice.

Green River Killer was my favorite book that Dark Horse published last year. After reading it, I became a huge fan of Jonathan Case’s exceptional artwork. I was lucky enough to work briefly with him—in an assistant editor capacity, of course—on House of Night #4, but even though he’s local, I’d never met him. I figured STCF provided a great chance to finally shake the man’s hand… as well as pick up his frequently raved about book Dear Creature. Both that book and GRK won Case the Best Artist and Best New Talent Awards at the show this year, so I have no doubt this is going to be an enjoyable read.

Finally, I grabbed Study Group 12 #4 and Study Group Magazine #1. I’ve heard nothing but good things about all things Study Group, but have only read their online offerings so far—highly enjoyable stuff I should add. So, naturally, I’m really looking forward to diving into these bad boys! Plus, they’re both edited by Zack Soto, one of the most fun, funniest, and nicest dudes I’ve met in comics in the last year. All I’m a’saying is, if you ain’t support solid folks in their creative endeavors, well what the fuck you doing with your life, ya know? But for reals, very psyched to read these.

In fact, maybe I should cut out this blogging baloney and do some reading. peace, love, and soul, folks!
