Reaction-length comic book reviews!

Last week’s “Few Line Reviews” didn’t quite make three pages but I have a butt-ton of new reviews to this week’s (5/13/2009) comics right here.

There’s a few more books I intend to read this week, but I likely won’t have tome for quick hit reviews like this, so please enjoy these and keep checking EoP for more groovy posts!

‘Enemy of Peanuts: The Webcomic’ Part 3—The battle is met!

Well, it’s late, but here it is: this week’s Enemy of Peanuts: The Webcomic installment!

I won’t lie, I think this may be my worst effort so far and was drawn after drinking a full bottle of wine, but there is an energy to it that I liked. So, I figured I would post it and keep the strip going, and at the worst I can always redo this panel at a future date.

Anyway, enough of my self deprecation…Please, enjoy the strip!

A camp-centric comic strip gets Nothing More American back on track

Hey folks! With things going so smoothly here on EoP, I had a chance today to get my summer camp memoir blog back on track. I won’t post notices here every time that happens, but my the new post over at Nothing More American— the first in a long time—features a comic strip I drew to introduce the story. So, head on over to www.NothingMoreAmerican.com and check out the strip!

I’ll also begin posting links to any infrequent strips I do over at NMA on the “Webcomics” page, so checking there regularly will allow you to keep up on any camp comics I do.

I’ve got nine more reviews here, and figured I’d post them up as I’m not sure when I’ll finish off my pile of comics from this week (5/6/2009). I’m itching to continue feeding my Conan binge, so the weekly fare is going to have to take a backseat to some sword-swinging adventures. Also, I just got a review copy of the action novel Shatner Quake by Jeff Burk in which a series of characters played by Shatner enter our reality and try to kill the actual Shatner at ShatnerCon—could you patiently wade through other fiction with that on your bookshelf?! I think not!

Far from a bullseye

With the amount of bows and arrows that appear in comics, it amazes me that artists and editors consistently overlook the basic mechanics and proper form required to accurately portray an archer in their books. This week’s cover to Deadpool #10 is a prime example of one of the many slips that occur when archery appears in comics.

Authority Figure

Though I haven’t posted here in the last two days, the Enemy of Peanuts (yours truly, Jim Gibbons!) has still been quite active on the interwebs.

Be forewarned, this post is about to be a little bit of a promotional link-a-thon, but an entertaining one! So, read on for some nice, brief stories and links.
