This Movember, I was fortunate enough to receive some help in my fundraising efforts from a number of wonderful and generous people. It’s belated, but I have to pass along a huge and special “Thank you!” to my good buddy Josh Wigler!

Not only has Mr. Wigler made a very large and selfless donation each year I’ve participated in the mustache-centric fundraiser, but this year, as the editor of the MTV Movies Blog, Josh gave me the opportunity to write about Movember for a national audience. After some pitching and brainstorming, Josh (and his kind bosses at MTV) greenlit a column called Movember Mustache Movie Madness and I started writing. The Great Potential of John Krasinski as Captain America

Frequenters of the internets will have seen that casting for “Captain America: The First Avenger” has been a big news item over the past week or two. The short version is that “The Office’s” John Krasinski (aka Jim Halpert) was initially in the running and an early front-runner for the role. He was then voted the fan-favorite choice by MTV readers, and now it looks like he’s no longer in the game.

Loads o’ Dark Horse links, or “What I did this week at my new job”

Now, I won’t make a habit of flooding this blog with all the news and promotional links I helped to arrange at my day job, but as I’m only in my third week at Dark Horse, I figure one post full of links won’t kill the ol’ EoP! Plus, after two weeks of learning the ropes, I feel like this is the week I really started getting into the swing of things—and I “swang” hard! These links are evidence of that “swingage!”

A reassessment of “Josie”

In response to a comment by Four Color Forum’s Kiel Phegley on my Josie and the Pussycats soundtrack post last week…

As excited as I am to see that you love this soundtrack, I must admit I’m a little heartbroken as well that you didn’t dig the flick more. I fucking LOVE that movie, man. LOVE IT.”

…I figured it was time to give the flick another watch. So I queued “Josie” up on my Netflix and gave it a re-watching last night. What follows is less a review and more a series of reactions and thoughts I had while watching, so, take it thusly.
