I pulled out my pens earlier and doodled this Hellboy image, colored it a few ways and thought I’d post the results here. I’m still getting back in the swing of doodling (Please note: This is not art, nor will you hear me calling it that—’cause it isn’t art.) so I stuck with a simple bust-shot and an angle that always comes easily for me when I’m “cartooning.” Anywho, here are the images. I hope you dig them.

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone! It’s been a real busy season due to the move to Portland and settling in here, so I didn’t really get you anything. However, let me spread the joy of the season by re-gifting you all with this review of “A Colbert Christmas” I wrote over a year ago.

Me, circa Late 2009
As my few regular readers (i.e. my family) may have noticed, I haven’t posted any drawings in a while. Life’s been so busy and overwhelming with the move to Portland, adjusting to a new job and learning a new city that I decided to put down my doodle pad for a bit.

My Best of 2009, or Some Stuff I Read and Liked
Come December, the “Best Of” lists begin rolling out and I realize how few of this year’s massive amount of great books I read in the past 365 days. Keeping up with every exciting indie and explosive mainstream title is hard work in this economy, even for a guy who ended up getting most of his comics via comped copies in 2009. Still, though I may not have read much that’s made people’s top ten lists this year, but I have read a ton of great comics in 2009.

A Tale of Two Shepherds
Certainly and absolutely, I’m the first person in the entirety of the interwebs to make this realization/comparison (sarcasm!), but “Mass Effect” hero John Shepherd looks a helluva lot like “LOST’s” Jack Shepherd!

For the love of Conan!
Over at Boing Boing, Cory Doctorow has a glowing review of Dark Horse’s current Conan series.
Yes, the entire series!

The Chase: A post in no way about that Charlie Sheen movie.
Though my childhood was filled with hours in front of the television that allow me the ability to still recall and recite numerous commercial jingles from my youth—from Amazin’ Fruit to Gator Golf and on down to Crocodile Mile and Crossfire—I haven’t had cable for a few months and rarely see TV adverts anymore. However, at the gym yesterday, I saw a commercial that spoke to me on an oddly primal level. It was as if someone had reached directly into my imagination, plucked a flitting flight of fancy out of my noggin and made it a shoe commercial.

Loads o’ Dark Horse links, or “What I did this week at my new job”
Now, I won’t make a habit of flooding this blog with all the news and promotional links I helped to arrange at my day job, but as I’m only in my third week at Dark Horse, I figure one post full of links won’t kill the ol’ EoP! Plus, after two weeks of learning the ropes, I feel like this is the week I really started getting into the swing of things—and I “swang” hard! These links are evidence of that “swingage!”
