An update from New Jersey: Death = Bad

I live directly across from the Borough Hall (read: Town Hall) in New Milford, N.J. and am thus constantly privy to exciting community memos like this…

"Ok, for reals, let's really focus on not plowing into telephone polls this month." (Click to Enlarge)

I’d normally think that buckling up and driving safely in order to prevent death of the road is something that goes without saying, but I guess occasional reminders never hurt—though this one is delivered in what strikes me as a pretty hilarious way. I did see three cars make a left turn through a red light last week, so I suppose the people of New Jersey could use a little help in the safe driving department. But even if you aren’t in New Jersey and you’re missing festive events like “National Talk Like a Pirate Day” already, try something new and attempt not to kill anyone while driving on October 10!

  1. Did you know that 90% of all DUI’s in New Jersey are by Billy Joel? Oh, and those 3 cars running red lights were fleeing the scene of a HOMICIDE… LOL… welcome to Jersey CAPEESH?!?

  2. Ha. I pass that sign as well from time to time and I’m happy I saw it because, ya know, I was thinking about doing just the opposite of its suggestions. That sign got me straight though!

I think October 10 really = ‘Police out in full force ticketing everybody for everything day.’ Take your bike to work.
